Hollywood Beach Cleanups: Adopt-A-Street

Join us in keeping Hollywood’s beach clean! Groups are welcome to join us! Volunteers are needed to collect liter along the beach. Before the beach clean-up, Adopt-A-Street will provide an informative presentation.

Back to School Parade & Rally

Lend a hand to the Department of Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Arts by distributing back packs to local children for the upcoming school year, conducting surveys, passing out refreshments and assisting with the parade.

LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITIES:

German Translator

Department: Records & Archive Division

Days: Monday – Friday (days flexible)

Time: 8:00am to 4:00pm (hours flexible)

Volunteer Description: Volunteers will translate German documents and scrapbooks by a renowned Hollywood photographer. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is required.

Age Requirement: At least 14 years old or older

Number of Volunteers Needed: 1

 

African-American Advisory Council – Vacant Positions

Department: City Clerk

Days: 4th Thursday of the month (except August)

Meeting Start Time: 6:30pm

Time Commitment: 3 –year term

Volunteer Description: Council members discuss issues pertaining to African-Americans and apprise the City Commission and City Manager of issues of concern to African Americans in the City of Hollywood. Members also create more social, economic and political awareness for African Americans within the City.

Age Requirement: At least 18 years old or older

Christmas in July: Broward Outreach Center

This event is focused on bringing independence to the homeless clients. It will also teach the homeless clients how they can break the cycle of homelessness in their lives in order to become independent and self-sufficient. In order to volunteer, you must register and complete a volunteer application.

Volunteer as an airport, fan plaza, hotel, or special events ambassadors for the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee in the upcoming Super Bowl in February 2010.

Time Commitment: There are 5-hour shifts available with one hour training session.

Volunteers Needed: SCORE

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneurial education and the formation, growth, and success of small businesses nationwide. SCORE is composed of volunteer business mentors, both working and retired, who counsel small businesses. Volunteers are needed to work in the office or special events. Office work includes writing, editing, web or flyer designing, and flyer or email distributing. Special events include registration and assignments or material distribution.
