Listen to Children (LTC) Program

Volunteer your time in the Listen to Children, a mentoring program, in which volunteer Listeners serve as non-judgmental adult friends to elementary school children engaging them in play and conversation at weekly one-on-one meetings. This is not an academic tutoring program.
Dates of Training: July Training = Thurs., 7/10, and Wed., 7/16, 2008, 9am to 3:30pm & August Training = Tues., 8/26, and Thurs, 8/28, 2008, 9am to 3:30pm
Training Time: 9:00am to 3:30pm
Time Commitment: Listener volunteers spend thirty minutes each week with each child one-on-one on a consistent basis during the school year, preferably seeing three or four children (1.5 to 2 hours/wk) on the day and time of their choice.
Requirement: Listeners must attend two days of training, have a Security Background Check done through the School Board of Broward County, and be able to commit to see the children each week.
Location: Volunteering takes place in Hollywood elementary schools, however, Listeners cannot volunteer at schools where their children/grandchildren attend.
